Pre Christmas shows from the Wildhearts and Public Image limited were both extremely good in very different ways.
The Wildhearts have a tradition of doing excellent christmas shows and this year was no different - lots of oldies and a fair few from Chutzpah. Sadly no Nita Nitro but plenty to get the crowd bopping.
It must be over 20 years since I saw Public Image - always a band that like to stretch their music to the limit - were extremely good. Pretty much did every song I knew plus a few I didn't remember. Lydon was clearly struggling - third gig in as many dayus - but soldiered on - seemed to be gargling Brandy or something to keep going. A brilliant opening with Public Image and Rise nto close the encore. Splendid.
