KILBURNFLYER

They may well end up doing a version of "Stairmaster to Heaven" but I am still desperately hoping I am one of the lucky 20,000 who will be able to get a ticket to see Zeppelin at the O2 arena that is expected to be announced later. What will irritate me enormously is how many tickets will end up on e-bay for collosal amounts of money moments after they sell out.

KILBURNFLYER

The reformed Jesus and Mary Chain are a very good live band. More coherent, more professional and more focussed on the audience than they were when I first saw them over 20 years ago. But for all that they were not as exciting as they were - then again nor am I - we all get a bit more mellow as we get older. The 35 minute arrogant noisefest (william played most gigs with his back to the audience) that was a Mary Chain gig in the 80's has been replaced with a more orthodox approach to concerts. Good sound balance, thoughtful song selection (shame no place for upside down which epitomised their uncompromising mix of feedback and a pounding rhythm section) and they played for nearly 90 minutes. A very enjoyable trip down memory lane with a few new songs lobbed in for good measure. I really hope they keep playing as they are very very good and well worth the entry fee.
