KILBURNFLYER
Kauto Star did me and my bank manager proud last friday and gave me my biggest win since Motivator won the Derby. Very firmly in the black with the bookies at the moment - it can't last....

KILBURNFLYER
In a bit of a sweat over the Gold Cup as I have been steadily backing Kauto Star over the last 6 months to win - a few quid here and a few quid there - generally an element of the profits from winning bets - and it has now mounted up to quite a sizeable bet by my standards. Could lay it on betfair and guarantee a profit whatever the outcome but where is the fun in that. The bets have all been in penny packets so I have not noticed the outlay. Will put a few quid on state of play today as I thing he has the best chance of winning if Kauto Star falls as he did last year. Should be a good race - wish I was there rather than stuck in the office.

KILBURNFLYER
Got a very sore left shoulder from a clattering fall on Tuesday while skiing in Austria. Not broken anything but probably came about as close as I would like to dislocating it. What the last few days have taught me is that I badly need to lose some weight. I puffed and panted the whole 3 days and was just a horrible sweaty lump. My skiing is getting better but would become better still if I was not carting around over 100Kgs. Pictures of me looking fat, red and shiny made me sit up and think - cut down on the booze, eat less crap food and more exercise have got to be the order of the day. Since I gave up football I have just ballooned - not good for my self esteem and the wife deserves better.

KILBURNFLYER
Dublin was, as ever, a great weekend. Lots of Guinness, lots of rain and lots of laughing. Seeing a friend so pissed that she surfed down the stairs of a nightclub on her knees was a particular highlight of mirth. Explains why I still love Laurel and hardy films. Thankfully she was uniinjured apart from some minor carpet burns. Rose Tattoo at the Scala in Kings Cross was a really great night. Saw some very old friends - we decided that the last time I saw one of them was at the Reading Festival in 1980 when I was more intested in getting a beautiful girl called Tracie from Wallsall back to my tent than I was in seeing the bands - band heard some very old music. I can never get over how small Angry Anderson is in the flesh - for someone with such a big voice he can only stand around 4' 11" which I am always surprised by. Still what a great band after all these years. Saxon on friday is rescheduled for May so no music for a few weeks except taking the wife and her mother to see the Gondoliers on Saturday.

KILBURNFLYER
Off to Dublin for a very liquid weekend in a few hours. HAs been an age since I went back to the old country and am very much looking forward to a decent pint of Guinness. It is weird but the only place to drink it is in Ireland where each pint takes about 5 minutes to pour and is done in stages to make sure it is perfect. A stroll across O'Connell Bridge and a proper Irish fry up in the morning await - should be great fun. Returning earlier than expected on Sunday to see Rose Tattoo at some dive in Kings Cross - will see a few friends I have not seen in absolutely ages - one of them about 15 years ago. All in all a great weekend lies ahead.
